PassivHaus

Bollingbroke, London

Four-Bedroom Passivhaus family home in Clapham. Nestled in the heart of a conservation area in South London, is a stunning three storey four-bedroom family home. The property is approximately 119 sqm with a brick faade which conforms to strict planning regulations for the area. Given its location in a busy part of Clapham, access to the site could have proven challenging for the delivery and erection of thetimber frame panels, as no mechanical lifting gear could be used. This usually problematic situation merely highlighted the simplicity, flexibility and scalability of the Beattie Passive Build System as we have been able to manoeuvre the frame, panels and all other elements by hand

PassivHaus

Bourne Lane

This is the first certified residential Passive House in Tonbridge. Built on an urban infill site, this high quality, low energy dwelling takes inspiration from the local brickmaking past, reflecting the dark clinker bricks used in some of the neighbouring historic buildings - sections of Siberian larch add further architectural interest. The design and layout respond to the slightly sloping site and a large quadruple-glazed roof window perfectly frames the view of a protected lime tree. An ASHP provides heating and hot water and 4kw of solar panels provide electricity. The measured air tightness is 0.34 ACH at 50Pa and fresh filtered air is brought into the building by a Paul Novus 300 MVHR. The structure is a highly insulated (Warmcell) timber frame sitting on an Isoquick 300mm-deep insulated slab. Natural and low/zero VOC materials, such as zero-added formaldehyde Smartply, keep the house healthy as well as comfortable. The zinc roof is 100% recyclable at the end of its life.

EnerPHit

Bowmans Lea

A 1978 mid-terrace townhouse in London has become the first certified step-by-step EnerPHit retrofit in the UK. The 3-storey property is both home and project of architect Harry Paticas, of PHT member Arboreal Architecture.Step-by-step EnerPHit is designed to facilitate long-term deep retrofit projects, by planning measures from the outset which will lead ultimately to achievement of all the usual EnerPHit targets, however many years the project may take to complete. Once the first step in the plan has been successfully accomplished, and demonstrable energy savings of a minimum of 20% (easily surpassed in this case) have been achieved, the whole project can be pre-certified.
